File a Complaint

Most complaints result from misunderstandings. Greater Denton/Wise County Association of REALTORS® suggests before filing a complaint, make reasonable efforts to communicate with the real estate professional and their broker.

License Complaints

TREC (Texas Real Estate Commission)

If you feel there has been a violation of The Real Estate License Act, or TREC rules, you have the right to file a complaint with TREC.

Ethics Complaints

Texas REALTORS®

REALTORS® abide by the strict standards of the Code of Ethics. If a REALTOR® has failed to meet these standards, you can file a complaint. First, you must determine if the person is a REALTOR® and, thus, bound by the Code of Ethics.

Texas REALTORS® Ethics Complaints are handled by the Texas REALTOR® Professional Standards Department at 512-480-8200 they also have information about the Texas REALTORS® Ombudsman Program for quicker resolution.

Step 1.) How To Find An Agent's Info

You can look the agent up on the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) website. This will provide you with the agent’s license number and brokerage.

Step 2.) How to Find An Agent's Broker

Before filing a complaint, we reccomend communicating with the real estate professional and their broker.

Step 3.) File a Complaint with Texas REALTORS®

If a resolution still cannot be reached, contact Texas REALTORS® Professional Standards Department at 512-480-8200.

Dispute Resolution Systems (DRS) is a general term used to identify means of resolving disputes out of court, such as by mediation or arbitration.
